Reduced Application Development Time

In case of a DBMS, development of a new application using the same database takes very little time.

Designing and implementing a new database from scratch may take more time than writing a single specialized file application. However, once a database is up and running, generally substantially less time is required to create new applications using DBMS facilities.

Development time using a DBMS is estimated to be 1/6th to 1/4th of that for a traditional file system
