Application Security

A DBMS facilitates the application of security to protect the data against accidental or intentional disclosure to unauthorized persons, or unauthorized modifications or destruction.

A DBMS provides different access privileges such as retrieve, delete, modify etc., to various users on different data.

As an example, a user with right to only display information from the database, cannot in any way manipulate the data in the database.
