Standards Enforcement

with centralized control of the database, the DBA (database administrator) can ensure that all applicable standards are followed in the representation of the data

Standards can be defined for names and formats of data items, display formats, report structures, terminology etc.

The applicable standards may include any or all of: company, installation, industry, departmental, national and international standards

Standardizing stored data is used as an aid to facilitate easy data interchange (communication) and cooperation between systems, departments, projects etc.
